Beginning with a live kickoff event at Veteran's Pavilion in East Goshen Park at 12:00 p.m. on September 20, 2026, East Goshen and West Goshen townships will launch the "Goshen250 Nature Challenge," a friendly competition to identify 250 or more local plants, animals, birds, and insects in parks and neighborhoods within the townships. The week-long event offers a fun, hands-on way for participants to engage with the natural world while contributing meaningful data to a real scientific initiative.

Using the iNaturalist mobile app downloaded from their device's app store, participants can document observations within the township boundaries from September 20 to 12:00 p.m. on September 27.

The goal is for each township's participants to find at least 250 species in honor of America250, our nation's semiquincentennial celebration. Whether they spend 15 minutes in their backyard or several hours — or days — exploring local parks and neighborhoods, every observation counts.

FAQs and additional information can be found on the East Goshen Township and the West Goshen Township websites.
