25 and 26

The Chester County Planning Commission had a strong year in 2025 — strengthening community partnerships, advancing key projects, and planning for the years ahead. As we begin a new year, we'd like to reflect on a few notable highlights that defined CCPC's work in 2025 and helped position us for what's next.

At the heart of CCPC's success is collaboration. Our work is rooted in serving our partners and the public, bringing people and organizations together, strengthening Chester County's civic and community fabric, and empowering others to engage in good planning. Many of our major partnership efforts in 2025 reflected this collaborative spirit.

CCPC's 75th anniversary celebration recognized the people, partners, and projects that have shaped the Commission over the past seven and a half decades — highlighting not only how CCPC has evolved over time, but also the lasting impact of partnerships. Additionally, the County Commissioners entrusted the Planning Commission with administering the Chester County America250 Commission (CC250). CCPC is using its considerable experience to bring together people and organizations into a collective vision for the nation's upcoming semiquincentennial.

Many of CCPC's accomplishments focus on educating others, improving quality of life, making processes simpler, and leading the way on planning policy. Highlights from 2025 included the annual Town Tours & Village Walks Program, which welcomed more than 800 participants; the installation of a new bus shelter at one of the county's busiest transit stops; the release of two new transportation guides — Municipal Transportation Grants and Transportation Resources for Rural and Agricultural Communities; and a new online portal for grant consistency letters.

CCPC's long-standing reputation for innovative plans and programs also continued in 2025. The completion of the Brandywine Battlefield 12-year phased study and the launch of the Open Space Accelerator program are two examples of forward-thinking initiatives that made a tangible impact to our communities across the county.

In 2026, CCPC will build on this momentum by beginning the county comprehensive planning process to update Landscapes3 and develop a new plan; updating the Climate Action Plan; supporting the America250 celebrations; establishing and staffing a land bank to increase housing supply; advancing transit-oriented communities; and developing a countywide on-road bike plan; among many other initiatives.

Overall, 2025 was a year of meaningful progress, which was made possible through strong collaboration with our many partners and a collective focus on thoughtful planning.

We're looking forward to another exciting and impactful year ahead!
